Syncope is not a disease „sui generis“, it is a transient symptom, with causes ranging from benign to life-threatening. Syncope is defined as a sudden, temporary unconsciousness associated with the loss of postural tonus conditioned by brain perfusion disorder. Neurocardiogenic syncope is neurally mediated. Typically, neither structural heart diseases, nor pathology of the heart rate are observed in patients with this pathology; values of blood pressure and heart rates are normal in these cases. An autonomic nerve system disorder is usually clinically inapparent, but can be reliably detected by head-up tilt test which imitates reaction of organism to orthostatic stress. Based on research performed with 50 patients with neurocardiogenic syncope, the authors demonstrate difficulties associated with correct diagnostics of the disease.
