Introduction: Nephron-sparing surgery is a safe and effective treatment of small renal tumours. In our study we investigated efficacy and safety of TachoSil as a haemostatic and sealant remedy in laparoscopic and open partial nephrectomy. Material and methods: TachoSil was used in LPN in 4 patients as an adjunct haemostatic treatment after standard surgical procedure. In 29 patients TachoSil was used in OPN and applied on resection surface of the kidney after haemostasis of a significant bleeding which was achieved by haemostatic stitches. Suturing of the resected surfaces was not performed. We evaluated haemostatic efficacy of TachoSil, perioperative and postoperative complications and time to haemostasis in OPN. Results: After application of TachoSil complete haemostasis was achieved in 3 out of 4 patients after LPN. In OPN haemostasis was achieved without parenchyma suturing in 27 out of 29 patients. In OPN in all patients the time to achieve complete haemostasis was below 15 minutes. Febrile complications occurred in one patient, other patients were free of perioperative and postoperative complications. Conclusion: In LPN and OPN TachoSil was proven as an effective and safe haemostatic treatment.
