The authors describe the relation between hyperparathyreosis and cardiovascular diseases. They underline mechanisms by means of which the dysbalance in regulation of calcium metabolism results in rise of cardiovascular risk. In patients with autonomous hyperproduction of parathormone the frequent incidence of hypertension, left ventricular hypetrophy, arrhythmias, endothelium dysfunction, valves and myocardium calcification were found. Patients with hyperparathyreosis and frequent disorders of sugar metabolism, hypertriglyceridaemia and hyperuricaemia are more susceptible to the risk of death from cardiovascular diseases. Screening of calciaemia in patients with cardiac and vascular diseases can lead to improvement of diagnosis of hyperparathyreosis and prognosis of patients.
