Slovak republic belongs to countries with the highest cardiovascular morbidity and mortality in Europe. The early recognition and reduction of risk factors occurrence in population leads usually to significant decrease of cardiovascular mortality. We assume the results of the large population group examination from the whole Slovak region. We focused on occurrence some of the most important biologic risk factors (elevated total cholesterol levels, elevated blood pressure, overweight/obesity), life style factors (smoking, stress load, physical inactivity, nutritional habits) and on calculation of total cardiovascular risk. The results may help in planning of health improvement measures and necessary financial, material and human potential as well.
