The main current trend in modern medicine is the combination of maximal therapeutic effect with minimal influence on patients well-being and high cost benefits. The basic assumption of this concept is the accurate and early diagnostics using non-invasive methods. Based on this, the 64-multislice computed tomography (MSCT) is currently spotlighted. The tight association between therapy and diagnostics requires, except determination of diagnosis, a precise localization of pathological process. MSCT is a modern diagnostic method providing high spatial resolution and creating three-dimensional images of the heart and its function. In last years, clinical studies offer enough evidence about the high specificity and negative predictive value of MSCT. Consequently, this method currently fills an important place in modern cardiology.
