Cardiac resynchronization therapy (CRT) decreases mortality and frequency of hospitalizations in selected patients with
heart failure (HF). Number of CRT implantations is increasing due to increasing prevalence of HF cases and new guidelines
for CRT. In order to maximize the effect of CRT, strict assessment of ECG during indications of CRT is important -
in particular focusing on QRS morphology. Thorough MRI evaluation of extension and location of scar has prognostic
significance in patients after extensive myocardial infarction. Technical equipment for implantations and CRT devices
are constantly improving. Especially multipolar left ventricular pacing leads are extremely beneficial. Due to the complexity
of CRT implantation and risk of complications it is important to perfectly master the implantation techniques,
ensure availability of technical equipment, precise post-implantation management, multidisciplinary cooperation is often
necessary.
