Because of late diagnosis gastric carcinoma has poor prognosis.Diffuse type of cancer has stable and early gastric cancer even rising incidence. Pathogenesis of gastric cancer is multifactorial where enviromental and possibly genetic factor as well, are key factors. As there is no screening method available for detection of gastric cancer, folow-up of risk groups is recommended: chronic gastritis (type C) in young patients with persistent H.pylori infection, chronic atrophic gastritis with intestinal metaplastia (incomplete or sulphomucin positive) with moderate or severe dysplasia, partial gastric resection in the past (especially Billroth II) for benign reason , history of adenomatous polyps and pernicious anaemia. M. Menétriér, HNPCC and EBV infection are rare precancerous conditions.Endobioptic exams are recommended.
