Many scientific studies are focused on different aspects of the colorectal cancer including prognosis and progression in last years. However, the micro and macroscopic investigation and description of a tumour have the basic implication for prognosis of the malignant disease in medicine. The immunohistochemical and molecular-biological diagnostic allows discover new factors associated with progression of disease. These methods enable create the new view on the prognosis of the specific disorders. Prognostic factors include mainly mutations in genes involved in special pathways associated with the genesis of the sporadic and hereditary colon tumours. The recent and previous research has identified and characterised many oncogenes, tumour suppressor genes, DNA repair genes, regulators of cell cycle, the markers of proliferation and apoptosis as well as the factors of cell adhesion and angiogenesis that are important in point of view of the prognosis. Many of them are playing consequential role in prediction of the neoadjuvant chemotherapy. The presented work provides a short summary of the important genetical prognostic factors. This paper also discusses the recent and expectant clinical foundation of these factors.
