Surgery has an important and non-changeable place in treatment of liver metastases in colorectal cancer. The new techniques and facilities help achieve better results after liver resection. The purpose of this study is to offer an overview about contemporary accomplishment and experience with surgical treatment of liver metastases of colorectal cancer. In addition the authors´ own results are presented. Between 2003 and 2007, the findings for 47 patients after liver resection and 10 patients after implantation of intra-arterial port for local chemotherapy (non-resectable metastases). The authors achieve remarkable short-term and long-term results. 5-year-survival will be presented later. Liver resection, anatomical or non-anatomical, is still the main and the most successful method of treatment in liver metastases of colorectal cancer. The multi-modal therapy is capable to improve survival.
