Malnutrition in the home environment as well as in health care facilities and facilities as homes for social services contributes
significantly to increased morbidity and mortality of the population and a significant increase in costs for treating
malnourished patients. Current possibilities of nutritional intervention, a proper indication of primarily enteral and less
parenteral nutrition in the home environment can significantly contribute to the improvment of the health of individuals
and save significant public financial sources. However, for the proper use of enteral nutrition (EV) in the home environment,
it is necessary to train specialists in clinical nutrition - certified preparation with the introduction of a network
of nutritional outpatient clinics accepted by health insurance companies, which is absent in Slovakia at present.
