Despite the trend of quality improvement in the field of breast cancer treatment, the survival
of the patients as well as management of breast cancer show significant variations
throughout European countries. Quality indicators that were set by breast cancer specialist
societies and that should be routinely measured, allow to evaluate the management
and confirm if it reaches the requested standards. In order to do so, since 2010 authors
carry out annual analysis of the surgical treatment of breast cancer at gynaecologic departments
in the Slovak Republic. In this article authors present results from the previous
year 2015. Eight departments from five state counties were analysed and selected
quality indicators and European guidelines published by the European Commission were
used. Authors asses trend of the breast cancer management with respect to the analyses
from the previous years. In conclusion they point out to areas with gradual treatment
progression and also areas where the recommended standards have not been reached.
