We present two cases of HELLP syndrome that occurred repeatedly in one woman at
the age of 36 and 40 during her 22nd week of gestation. In both cases, the syndrome
developed and progressed quickly. She had typical clinical symptoms and laboratory
findings. In both cases, Caesarean section was performed due to the mother’s serious
condition. Neither case progressed into the 1st stage of the syndrome according to
Mississippi classification. With this findings, we want to point out to the rare but
possible occurrence of HELLP syndrome in early weeks of pregnancy below the
border of viability of the foetus. In order to lower the risk of maternal morbidity
and mortality with a fast progressing disease, an early termination of pregnancy is
necessary even in early stages of pregnancy.
