PREGNANCY IN PATIENTS AFTER LIVER TRANSPLANTATION

Liver transplantation is considered to be a treatment of choice for end- stage liver diseases. Its success leads to increasing number of women- recipients in reproductive age. The main aspect of counselling for patients after liver transplantation, who are considering pregnancy is the optimal timing of pregnany and the management of immunosuppressive therapy during pregnancy. Compared with the common population, pregnancy in liver transplant patients is associated with a greater risk of adverse maternal and fetal outcomes. The authors provide a review of preconception planning, prenatal care, management of pregnancy and complications which are increased in these patients.
